Don's Story

I grew up here when there was a lot more property in the back. There was actually a farm where the apartments now are. I could play on acres of farmland with other kids, and my parents didn't have to worry. It was a very special place to grow up. The neighborhood association was developed, and we all had meetings, dinners, crab feasts, and parties. Our parents were having fun while all of us kids were running around. These events held the neighborhood together and fostered a sense of community. These things need to be carried on to promote community. It is a great place to grow up. We used to have a neighborhood clean-up, but I visited my old elementary school and was appalled at the trash and dirty conditions. It's great that this neighborhood still holds the clean-ups and keeps the neighborhood nice. It keeps the neighborhood tradition.
